Round the Bays is Auckland's big waterfront fun run, held since 1972 and back on Sunday 7 March 2027.

Southern Cross Round the Bays Auckland is on Sunday 7 March 2027. The 8.4 km course starts on Quay Street in the city and follows Tāmaki Drive beside the Waitematā Harbour to the finish at St Heliers. The run starts at 9:00, and participants should be at the start line by 8:30. The 2027 event marks 55 years of Round the Bays, which also runs in Wellington and Christchurch.

The course is flat and suits every age and fitness level, from people pushing prams and walking with friends to runners chasing a personal best. Children aged 5 to 15 have their own entry price, and infants up to 4 years enter free and still get a medal at the finish. Entries close with on the day registration on 7 March.

Getting there takes planning because roads close on race morning. Free event buses run from the finish area at Vellenoweth Green and from Madills Farm to the start between 6:30 and 8:00, and the start is a short walk from the Waitematā Britomart bus and train stations. Public transport is free on Auckland Transport buses and trains with a bib or entry confirmation. Gear drop is on Britomart Place and closes at 8:30.

After the run, the finishers' festival on Vellenoweth Green in St Heliers starts at 9:45 with music and food, and teams gather at the hospitality zone at Madills Farm. Free buses back to Britomart run from 11:00 to 14:00.
