Oslo Halvmaraton

The 2026 half marathon was sold out. Nine waves left Rådhusplassen at five-minute intervals between 13:00 and 13:40, each runner placed by expected finishing time and not allowed to move to another wave. It was open from age 15, and the time limit was three hours and thirty minutes.

The half is one lap of the loop that the marathon runs twice, with about 175 metres of ascent according to the organiser. That puts it on the streets in the early afternoon, while the last marathon runners are still out on their second lap, and it finishes back at Rådhusplassen. Drink stations come roughly every five kilometres, with sports drink and water.

With nine waves over forty minutes, the gun time tells the family very little about when their runner will arrive. A runner who shares their Livebib link gives them a page that opens in a browser without an app or account, with the position on the course line, the distance covered and a finish estimate that updates with the pace. Where the GPS fix gets noisy between buildings, the position is carried forward along the course and marked as estimated, never shown as measured.
