10 for Grete

The ten-kilometre race closes the day. It is run in honour of Grete Waitz, who helped found the charity AKTIV mot kreft, and the organiser frames it as a run for public health, for people fighting cancer and for her legacy. In 2026 nine waves left Rådhusplassen between 16:20 and 17:00, with runners placed by expected finishing time.

It is the flattest of the three distances: the organiser gives about 50 metres of ascent, against about 175 for the half and 350 for the marathon. It starts and finishes at the same square as the other two, in the late afternoon, when the half marathon’s last runners are coming in. For runners doing Oslotrippelen it is the third race of the day, after a marathon and a half.

A 10 km start spread over forty minutes is hard to time from the side of the road. A runner who shares their Livebib link lets family and friends open it in a browser, with no app and no account, and see the position on the course line, the distance covered and a finish estimate that updates as the race goes. If the GPS fix between buildings is uncertain, the position is carried forward along the course and marked as estimated. The runner decides who gets the link.
