Oh Meu Deus 20K

The 20K is the only race of the weekend that stays below the high mountain. It starts in São Romão and passes through Vila Cova à Coelheira, between valleys and clear rivers, then follows trails lined with centuries-old chestnut trees up to the mountain village of Lapa dos Dinheiros, across terraces, waterfalls and streams, before returning to Seia. The organiser’s title for it is “Nature frozen in time”.

The published distance is 22 km, with 1,000 m of climbing and 1,036 m of descent: a real mountain half, not a road run. The 6-hour limit gives room to walk the steep parts. Running on Sunday morning, after the longer races, it suits a first mountain race, a runner who wants the Serra da Estrela villages without Torre, or a companion of someone who ran earlier in the weekend.

It finishes in Seia, where the rest of the weekend’s races also end. On Livebib the runner shares a link to their own broadcast; family and friends open it in a browser, with no account or app, and see position on the course line, distance covered and a finish estimate that updates as the race goes. If the phone loses signal in the valleys, the position is carried forward along the course and marked as estimated.
