MTB Marathon 32 km

The organiser calls it a good fitness route: mostly gravel paths, some flowing singletrack and very few technical spots, with 300 metres of climbing. It is also the route the U15 class rides, which says something about its level. Like the longer MTB routes, it starts in the centre of Hillerød and heads out into the forests around the town.

It suits a first mountain-bike race, a rider coming over from the road or from gravel, or a young rider in the U15 class. The start time was published as provisional, with final times confirmed a few days before the race, and the GPX file and a Garmin Connect link are on the organiser’s routes page. Shorter does not mean easier to follow: the riders are in the forest from the start, and a parent waiting in Hillerød sees nothing until the finish. A Livebib broadcast that the rider shares shows the position on the course line, the distance covered and a finish estimate that updates as the race goes. It opens in a browser without an account or an app; where the phone loses signal under the trees, the position is carried forward along the course and marked as estimated.
