The course is 64.03 kilometres with 3,236 metres of ascent, a loop that starts and finishes in Pangururan. That is more climbing per kilometre than the 100K, and the organiser sells it on its views and its connection to Batak heritage. It is a UTMB World Series 50K event and earns two Running Stones.

The required pace is 22 minutes per kilometre, with a strict cut-off at aid station 5 in the early evening of race day. The organiser’s benchmark puts the first finisher home after about 8 hours 15 minutes, in the afternoon, and the last at the 20-hour limit, around two in the morning. Runners must be 18 or older and carry the mandatory kit. With a 06:00 start and a limit at two in the morning, a runner using the full time will finish by headlamp.
