Caldera Crown 100K

This is the longest route of Trail of the Kings: 101.19 kilometres with 4,205 metres of ascent on a loop that starts and finishes in Pangururan. The organiser says only that the course weaves through Samosir’s iconic landscapes, and the event page adds forest, heritage sites and the hills and valleys of Batak legend. It is a UTMB World Series 100K race and earns three Running Stones, and the top three men and women overall receive direct entry to the following year’s UTMB World Series Finals.

The required pace is 18 minutes per kilometre, and aid stations 7 and 8 carry strict cut-offs on the first evening and just after midnight. The organiser’s benchmark has the first finisher home after about 12 hours 45 minutes, in the afternoon, and the last at the 30-hour limit on the second morning. Runners must be 18 or older and carry the mandatory kit listed on the race’s gear page.
