Course & challenge

Košice Peace Marathon

The course is two laps of the city loop based on the 1997 IAAF World Half Marathon Championships route, finishing where it started, between the DoubleTree by Hilton and the Dargov department store. It is all asphalt, and the organiser puts the whole height range at 16.35 m, from 200.70 to 217.05 m above sea level, with 74 m of total ascent over 42.195 km. The course holds World Athletics and AIMS certificates.

Refreshment stations every 5 km offer water, isotonic drink and fruit, with water-only stations in between and kilometre markers at every kilometre. Pacers cover target times from 2:50 to 4:30. The marathon is open to runners aged 18 and over, and the four-person relay (legs of 12, 9, 12 and 9 km) starts at the same time on the same course.

This page belongs to the 2026 marathon. On Livebib, family and friends follow a runner over both laps: position on the course line, distance covered and a finish estimate that updates as the race goes, so the people waiting on Hlavná ulica know when to look for them at halfway and at the finish. The runner decides who gets the link.
