Start and finish are at Mellingerum. The course is varied terrain with a lot of trail and plenty of climbing, and the organiser warns of stretches where your shoes get wet. It is short but not gentle: the 2026 winning time was 1:00:31, and the fastest woman ran 1:24:22. The 8 km results list is the longest of the distances, with around thirty runners at the finish.

The 8 km suits anyone who wants to try proper trail running, with paths, hills and wet feet, on a distance that does not need months of preparation. Anyone aged 15 or over may enter. The 16 km and 12 km fields have already started, so there is company in the forest the whole way.
