Eleven metres from top to bottom
A 10 km through the post-war suburbs of north-west Stockholm, on a course whose highest and lowest points are eleven metres apart.
Hässelbyloppet is run on Sunday 11 October 2026, with the start set for 12:00 (the organiser calls the time preliminary) and the children’s race, Lilla Hässelbyloppet, at 11:00. The organiser, Hässelby SK, dates the first Hässelbyloppet to 4 May 1915, a 14 km road race to Spånga and back; the 10 km form it has today dates from 1988. Runners start on a grass field a few hundred metres from Hässelby IP and finish on that stadium’s track.
In between is a loop of park paths and cycle lanes through Grimsta, Råcksta, Vällingby and Hässelby: past Råcksta chapel, through the old Råcksta centrum, around Solursparken in front of Vällingby centrum, and down an 800-metre slope to the bird pond at Maltesholm. The organiser puts the gap between highest and lowest point at 11 metres — no real hills, but a string of short ramps out of tunnels under the main roads. Water stations stand at Nickelgränd around 4 km and before the Kirunagatan tunnel around 7 km.
Groups leave five minutes apart, so the person waiting at the stadium rarely knows which minute their runner is on. On Livebib the runner shares a link to their own broadcast, opened in a browser with no app or account: position on the course line, distance covered and a finish estimate that updates on the way. Through the tunnels the position is carried forward along the course and marked as estimated, not frozen. The runner decides who gets the link.
