Le Trail de Bourbon

A hundred and six kilometres and 6,258 metres of ascent, from the floor of the cirque of Cilaos over the ramparts and north across the island to the Stade de La Redoute in Saint-Denis. The race climbs out of Cilaos in the dark almost immediately, and the first hours are the ones that decide it. Forty-two hours is the limit, which for most of the field means a full night, a full day and part of a second night.

The Bourbon is the Grand Raid’s second distance and the one many Réunionnais runners take on before the Diagonale itself.
