Gloppen Halvmaraton

Gloppen Halvmaraton

From the centre the course follows FV615 along the south side of Gloppefjorden, turns about 3 km past Sande and returns the same way to Sandane. It is asphalt throughout, with 16 metres between the lowest point at 2 metres above sea level and the highest at 18. The route changed this year, but the distance was re-measured and is the same. Parts of the road are closed to cars from 0 to 7.5 km and from 13.5 to 18 km, and marshals stand along the course.

Drinks of juice and water are served three times each way, at 3, 6.5 and 9 km on the way out and at 12, 14.5 and 19 km on the way back. The race is the Sogn og Fjordane district championship, the top three in each class receive prizes, and more are drawn by bib number at the prize-giving from about 16:00. Bibs are collected from 11:00 at Heradshuset, and changing rooms and showers are in Trivselshallen, about 200 metres from the start. A flat, fast course suits a first half marathon as well as a personal best.

This page covers the 2026 edition. The turnaround beyond Sande is where the race turns for home, and the moment family start watching the clock. On Livebib the runner shares a link to their broadcast; family open it in a browser and see the position on the course line, the distance covered and a finish estimate that updates on the way out and back. If the signal drops along the fjord, the position is carried forward and marked as estimated, never shown as measured.
