Closed Highland roads from Pitlochry

Etape Caledonia is the UK's original closed-road sportive, three loops from Pitlochry through the lochs and glens of Highland Perthshire.

The 20th edition is on Sunday 9 May 2027, with the start and finish on Pitlochry High Street. The event has welcomed cyclists to Highland Perthshire since 2007, and it runs in support of Cancer Research UK, which offers charity places for riders who fundraise.

There are three routes on fully closed roads. The 40 mile route, 64.4 km with 860 m of climbing, has one main climb and passes Loch Tummel, Dull and Aberfeldy. The 55 mile route, 88.5 km with 1,166 m, adds a second big climb and the quiet glens near Loch Rannoch and Bridge of Balgie. The 85 mile route, 136.8 km with 1,555 m, is the full Etape with three major climbs, and steady climbing that peaks around 70 to 80 km.

Feed stations on recent editions stood at Kinloch Rannoch, a Forestry Commission car park, Glengoulandie Campsite and the House of Menzies, with the 85 mile route passing four of them. The organiser notes that the 2027 feed stations are still subject to final confirmation.

The shorter loop suits newer riders who want closed roads without a long day, while the 85 miles is a proper test of stamina for experienced cyclists. Spectators can watch both the start and the finish on Pitlochry High Street, and the organiser invites them to cheer riders over the line.

On Livebib you can follow a cyclist who chooses to share their own live position from the phone they carry. This is not the organiser's timing, and the official results come from the organiser.
