Dublin Marathon 2026: Sunday 25 October

Start on Leeson Street Lower and finish on Mount Street Upper, near the Pepper Canister. The final instructions give four running waves.

Official sources checked 20 October 2026. Start times remain subject to the organiser’s changes; use your own wave allocation.

Starting waves and the clock change

Ireland’s clocks go back one hour overnight before race day. The schedule below is Dublin local time, GMT (UTC+0), not summer time. Check any manually set watch, and convert from your own location if following from abroad.

The final instructions separately list a wheelchair/cerebral palsy start at 08:40. This is not the first running wave. Follow the instructions for your own competition category.

Number collection at the RDS

The expo is at RDS Simmonscourt. Published opening hours are Friday 23 October, 12:00–19:00, and Saturday 24 October, 09:00–18:00. Complete number collection before the Saturday closing time and check the collection requirements in the final instructions. Do not plan to collect a number at the start on Sunday.

Where to watch and where to meet

The official course and spectator information are the starting point for choosing a viewing location. Phoenix Park and Castleknock are early-course options; Roebuck Road is much later. Check permitted access and road closures before attempting to move between them. No passing time for an individual runner is guaranteed.

The finish operates a one-way flow. Use the designated post-race meeting area shown in the organiser’s current start/finish map; do not try to meet a runner on the finish line. Agree a landmark and allow time for the runner to leave the controlled area. The published race limit is seven hours: follow official instructions rather than a phone estimate when deciding whether to continue.

Official tracker and results

The organiser’s race-day page links to its runner-tracking service. Use the official results portal for classifications, selecting the correct event year when it is available. A previous year’s result is not evidence of a finish in 2026.

Course & challenge

A city marathon best planned from both ends

Dublin Marathon is a 42.195 km road race. Knowing the finish arrangements is as useful for supporters as knowing when their runner starts.

A Dublin Marathon plan should begin with two separate questions: where does the runner enter the starting area, and where can you meet after the finish? The city-centre setting makes it tempting to treat everything as one meeting place, but a race-day barrier, a one-way pedestrian route or the runners’ exit can separate people who appear close together on a map. Read the current edition’s access instructions together before leaving for the start and choose a meeting point outside the runners’ finish flow.

The course takes the race away from the centre and through different neighbourhoods before returning for the finish. A supporter does not need to visit every one of them. Pick a permitted viewing point, allow time to move without crossing the race and agree whether the runner should expect to see you again. Treat a predicted finish time as a planning aid rather than a promise: the starting wave and the runner’s actual progress both matter.

The organiser’s tracker, timing and result service are the authoritative places for official race information. A participant may independently share a Livebib phone broadcast, but this does not make Livebib the official Dublin Marathon tracker or provide coverage of every runner. If a shared position stops updating, do not use the display to infer an official race status or placing.
