From Devonport over the Harbour Bridge

The Auckland Marathon takes its longer races from the North Shore across the Auckland Harbour Bridge into the city.

The 2027 Auckland Marathon is on Sunday 31 October. The marathon starts on King Edward Parade in Devonport on the North Shore, crosses the Harbour Bridge and finishes at Victoria Park in the city. The half marathon also starts in Devonport and crosses the bridge.

Two shorter events complete the programme. The 11 km starts at Smales Farm on the North Shore and also crosses the bridge, and the 5 km starts at Karanga Plaza on the city waterfront. Together they give people of all levels a way to take part.

The event was first held in 1992 and celebrated 35 years in 2026. The bridge crossing, with the harbour below, is the part of the course most people remember.

Spectators can watch the starts in Devonport and the finish at Victoria Park, which is a short walk from the central city. The event is organised by IRONMAN New Zealand Limited as part of its running series.

On Livebib you can follow a participant who chooses to share their own live position from the phone they carry. This is not the organiser's timing, and the official results come from the Auckland Marathon.
