The world’s largest roller ski race
A 16-kilometre asphalt lap beside a river gorge, ridden once, twice or three times by the best classic skiers in the world.
Alliansloppet is the roller ski season opener and the largest race of its kind anywhere: 16, 32 and 48 kilometres, all of them laps of the same course through the waterfall area at Trollhättan, beside the locks and the gorge of the Göta älv. The elite fields for the 48 are the Ski Classics and World Cup names getting their first hard effort of the year in, and the race is broadcast live on Swedish television.
A lap race is the easiest kind to watch from one spot and the hardest to time, because a spectator needs to know when their skier is coming round rather than where they are in general. Livebib draws the lap once, puts the skier on it, and gives an arrival estimate for the next pass through the start-finish area that keeps updating. One link, free to watch, nothing to install.
