Help

Short answers about what you use in Livebib. You only see help for what you have access to.

Getting started

What Livebib isLivebib shows a runner, rider or hiker live on a map while they race, so friends and family can follow every step and cheer them on.
Find the runner you want to followThe easiest way is the link the runner shares. Without one, look on the board or on the race's page.
Log in with a codeLivebib has no password. Type your email address, and we email you a six-digit code that signs you in.
Change the languageLivebib speaks eleven languages. You choose the language yourself; we do not guess it from your browser.

Following a race live

Find your way around a broadcastA broadcast page has the map on top and the rest in tabs: what is happening now, the runner's updates, the numbers, the course and the chat.
Where is the runner right now?The green diamond on the map is the runner. The pill in the corner of the map tells you how fresh that position is.
When will they finish?Under the runner's name you see when they should reach the next checkpoint and the finish. Times marked with ≈ are our estimates.
Checkpoints, cutoffs and restUnder “About” you find every checkpoint on the course: when the runner passed, when they are expected, and how much time they have before each cutoff.
The numbers under “Stats”The Stats tab gathers the race in charts: the route, the elevation, speed, the weather on the way and how many are watching.
Other runners in the same raceOn a broadcast linked to a race you can see others in the same race, and in the event's other races that week, next to the runner you follow.
Watch a race againWhen a race is over you can play it back on the map, with the dot, the numbers and the weather as they were.

The map, 3D and weather

Use the mapThe map shows the course, where the runner is and what lies ahead. The buttons on the right move the camera.
The elevation view“Elevation” shows the course from the side: every climb and descent, where the runner is on it, and what is left.
The map in 3DIn 3D you see the course in the real terrain: the mountains, the valleys and the climb ahead of the runner.
The weather where the runner isThe weather on the map is measured where the runner is right now, and the temperature is what it feels like there.
Course films in 3DSome races have a film that flies the whole course in 3D, chapter by chapter, with narration. When a race has one, you find it on the race page and on its broadcasts.

Cheering and reaching the runner

The chat: cheer with everyone watchingThe chat is open to everyone watching the broadcast. Anyone can read it; to write you need to log in.
Give a broadcast a heartA heart says you were there. Tap the heart at the top of a broadcast; tap again to take it back.
Voice cheers: send your voice to the runnerRecord a short greeting that only the runner hears. Everyone else just sees that you sent one.
Private messages: how they workWrite something to the runner that only they see. The runner can reply, and only you see the reply.
Cheers read aloud: how it worksThe runner can hear the crowd's cheers read aloud in their headphones during the race: one short sentence, at most once every 15 minutes.

Updates and Livebib AI

The Updates tabUnder “Updates” you find the runner's own posts, photos and voice messages, Livebib AI's commentary, and milestones along the course.
Livebib AI: the race commentatorLivebib AI writes short commentary as the race goes on, from the live numbers: distance, pace, climbs, checkpoints and weather.
Ask the race: how it worksWondering something about the race? Ask in the chat and Livebib AI answers right there. The answer is written by AI, everyone sees the question and the answer, and the answer can be wrong.
Voice messages from the runnerDuring the race the runner can talk instead of typing. You hear their voice, or read what Livebib AI made of it.

Notifications and following

Follow runners and get notifiedFollow a runner and you get a notification when they start a broadcast. Their broadcasts also gather under “Following”.
Follow key momentsGet a notification at the big moments of a race: the start, halfway, the highest point, the final stretch and the finish.

After the race

Share a broadcastTap the share arrow at the top of a broadcast to send the link. After the race the same button shares pictures and films too.
Films of the raceAfter the race, the runner can make short films of it: a summary, a flight over the whole course in 3D, a replay on the map and more. Ready films are shared under “Films”.

Plan a route

Draw a routeDraw a running or cycling route on the map, or let us suggest a loop. You see the distance, the climb and the ground as you go, and you can save it, share it or send it to your watch as a GPX file. You only need an account to save.
Find a trailLivebib has a page for the marked trails and running tracks in OpenStreetMap: hiking trails, exercise loops, cycle and MTB routes and ski tracks. Find the ones near you, take a trail to your watch as a GPX file, or broadcast your run along it.

Broadcasting your own race

Start a broadcastCreate your broadcast on the web, link it to your race, and choose how your position reaches the map: the Livebib app or the race's own tracking.
Connect the race's live trackingMany races publish live times on their own site. Paste your link from it, and your broadcast follows your times without the app.
