TCS Lidingöloppet 15 km

The 15 km takes half the tremil’s distance and less than half its climbing: the organiser publishes 250 metres of ascent. It runs on parts of the 30 km course, on soft, hilly tracks, but leaves out the hardest hills of the longer race. It is open from age 15, and it is the running leg of En Svensk Klassiker Halva.

Drinks are served at the start on Koltorp, at Hustegaholm with 10 km to go, at Grönsta with 4 km to go and at the finish, where buns, bananas, salted cucumber and coffee are added. Grönsta, around 11 km into the race, is also the one checkpoint with a time limit: a runner who has not passed it by the organiser’s cutoff time does not continue. Every finisher gets the bronze medal; men under 1:07 and women under 1:15 from start group 2 or earlier can swap it for silver.

The 15 km starts an hour before the tremil, so the finish area on Grönsta gärde is busy with two races at once. A Livebib link from the runner keeps one of them in view: their position on the course line, the distance covered and a finish estimate that updates with the pace. If the phone loses signal under the trees, the position is carried forward along the course and shown as estimated, not as measured. The runner decides who gets the link.
