TCS Lidingöloppet 10 km

The organiser describes the 10 km as “Lidingöloppet’s classic last ten kilometres”, run on the trails around Grönsta gärde. It is the junior and veteran race: classes for 17 and 19-year-olds, men and women up to 22, and veterans over 50, 60 and 70. Runners over 80 have their own 4 km in the Grönsta woods. Every finisher gets the bronze medal, and each class has its own silver time.

Because it starts on Grönsta gärde, the 10 km skips the tremil’s first twenty kilometres and joins its line for the run home. There are drinks at Uddvägen, 7 km from the finish, at Tyktorp, 3 km from the finish, and at the finish itself. Later the same day the same paths carry the 30 km field through its own final stretch.

A short race gives the family less time to find a good spot and less margin for a wrong guess. When the runner shares a Livebib link, it opens in a browser without an app or account and shows the position on the course line, the distance covered and a finish estimate that updates as the race goes. Under the trees, where the phone may lose signal, the position is carried forward along the course and marked as estimated, so the people at the finish still know roughly where to look.
