It is the most approachable of the three Huka rides. The 2026 route runs Riverside Reserve, Rotary Ride, Huka Falls to Aratiatia, the Aratiatia Loop, Wairakei Resort Track, Wairakei Tourist Track, Honey Trail, Expressway, Acid Drop and Riverside Park. On the way it passes AJ Hackett Bungy, Huka Falls, Aratiatia Dam and the silica thermal stream at Wairakei, then crosses the Waikato River on an MTB bridge built for the event and rolls past Taupō Marina.

Start groups go by expected time: under 1:45, 1:45 to 2:10, and over 2:10. Water, food and a short black are at The Hub, about 24 km in, and electrolyte drink is on course. Riders unlikely to finish by 3pm can be taken off. Children ride alone from 12, and from 10 with an adult for the full ride. E-bikes have their own category.

On Livebib the rider shares a link to their own broadcast. Family open it in a browser, without an account or app, and see where on the trail the rider is, the distance covered and a finish estimate that updates, so they can be at the finish in time. Under the trees, where signal drops, the position is carried forward along the course and marked as estimated.
