John Bauer Trail Run 5 km motion

The 5 km starts together with the 10 and 18 km from the old ski stadium on Huskvarnaberget and shares their first kilometres: the lit ski track, the diagonal down the hill above the houses to the lift hut at Strutsabacken, and the climb back up through the tunnel under the lift and past IKHP-stugan. At the high point, about three kilometres in, where the view opens over southern Vättern, the 5 km turns right and leaves the longer distances. The organiser does not publish a detailed description of the rest of the 5 km course.

The experience run is a recreational race without timing, though anyone who wants a time can add it for 50 kronor. There are two aid stations with water and sports drink. The same distance is run by the fifteen-year-olds in Stortrollens lopp, in a class of their own. Like the longer races it is hilly trail, partly on paths and partly off them, and the organiser recommends trail shoes. The course is marked with tape, arrows and kilometre signs.

An untimed 5 km is still something family want to follow. On Livebib the runner shares a link to their own broadcast, opened in a browser with no account and no app, showing the position on the course line, the distance covered and a finish estimate that updates as the race goes. Anything computed rather than measured is marked as estimated, and the runner decides who gets the link.
