The distance is chosen on the road

At Istria300 nobody has to pick a distance when they register. Everyone starts together in Poreč, and the course splits later, at two intersections in the middle of the peninsula.

Istria300 is a road cycling event on the Croatian peninsula of Istria, starting and finishing in Poreč. In 2026 it is held on Saturday 3 October, with one start at 07:00 for all three courses: Istria300 at 302 km and 5,300 m of climbing, Istria209 at 209 km and 3,300 m, and Istria135 at 134.5 km and 1,800 m. The organiser says plainly that its first priority is to reach 300 km on the longest course, and that the courses change from year to year.

The format is what makes it unusual. The first split comes at Balići, Intersection A, at km 55.5, where Istria135 turns off. The second is Brhaji, Intersection C, at km 162.5, where Istria209 heads back toward Poreč and Istria300 carries on. Each intersection has a cut-off: a rider on the long course who reaches Balići after 09:30 is redirected onto Istria135, and one who reaches Brhaji after 13:45 onto Istria209. Sections close behind the leaders at a minimum average of 25 km/h, and the finish in Poreč closes at 19:05.

It is a long day to follow from the finish area, and a Livebib link makes it readable. The rider shares a link to their own broadcast, set up for the course they plan to ride, and family open it in a browser with no account and no app. They see the position on the course line, the distance covered and a finish estimate that updates as the day goes. Anything estimated is marked as estimated, and when the phone loses signal inland the position is carried forward along the course instead of freezing. The rider decides who gets the link.
