From Kalmarsund across Öland to Stortorget
Scandinavia’s premier full-distance triathlon, famed for the ride over the six-kilometre Öland bridge and Kalmar’s roaring street party.
IRONMAN Kalmar is Sweden’s only full-distance IRONMAN event, covering 226.2 kilometres across Kalmar and the Baltic island of Öland. The day begins in the sheltered waters of Tullhamnen in Kalmarsund with a 3.8-kilometre swim, before athletes head out onto the 180.2-kilometre bike course.
The bike leg immediately crosses the iconic six-kilometre Öland bridge, taking riders across the windswept limestone plains of the Stora Alvaret before returning to the mainland through coastal Småland villages. The final 42.2-kilometre marathon winds in three vibrant laps through historic Kalmar, cheered by thousands of spectators on the way to the red carpet finish at Stortorget by the cathedral.
Livebib connects supporters to the full journey across all three disciplines: tracking swim exits, bike splits over the bridge, running pace through the city, and precise arrival estimates for every transition and the final arch on Stortorget.
