A lap of the canals around Christiansborg

TrygFonden Christiansborg Rundt is an open-water swim through the canals around Christiansborg Palace in central Copenhagen, starting and finishing at the Black Diamond library.

The 2027 swim is on Friday 27 and Saturday 28 August, and entries open on 3 November. It is organised by SvømDanmark, and in 2026 the event celebrated its 20th anniversary with a record field of almost 6,000 swimmers, making it the largest open-water swim in the Nordic countries.

The classic distance is the 2,000 m lap round the palace. It starts from a pontoon off Søren Kierkegaards Plads, passes Højbro Plads and the underwater sculptures of Agnete and the Merman, follows Gammel Strand to Stormbroen, turns up Frederiksholms Kanal under Marmorbroen and Prinsens Bro, and passes BLOX before the last 200 metres along the spectator area. Heats of about 65 swimmers start every five minutes, and there is also a floating start window and a Speedos Only heat on Saturday.

Two elite heats, women and men, race for the podium on Saturday morning. The REMA 1000-meteren is 1,000 m for newcomers, from Gammel Strand to the finish, and the Krüger relay splits the lap into four legs of about 500 m. The 10,000 m is five laps of the course.

Children under 15 can take part, alone or with an adult, if they swim in a wetsuit with a tow float, can swim at least 1,000 m without a break in a pool, and enter under a parent or guardian's responsibility. The last 200 metres pass the spectator area on Søren Kierkegaards Plads, and every swimmer climbs out up the steps of the pontoon at the finish.

On Livebib you can follow a swimmer live if they choose to share their own position from the phone they carry, for example in a tow float or on an escort boat. That position comes from the swimmer, not from the organiser's timing, and the official results are published by the organiser.
