Cheers read aloud: how it works

The runner can hear the crowd's cheers read aloud in their headphones during the race: one short sentence, at most once every 15 minutes.

Can what I write be read aloud?

Yes, if the runner has switched on spoken cheers. Your name and your message in the chat can then be read out to them, only in their headphones. While it is on, the chat tells you so.

A message waits at least a minute before it can be read, so there is time to remove what should not get through.

What is never read aloud

  • Private messages, answers from Livebib AI and the runner's own messages.
  • Links and emoji.
  • Deleted messages, and messages sent to a moderator to check.
  • Messages from someone who is banned or timed out in the chat, including what they wrote before.
  • Anything written before the runner switched it on.

If a message is not fit to be read aloud, we only say who cheered last, or how many are cheering.
