# Start a broadcast

Create your broadcast on the web, link it to your race, and choose how your position reaches the map: the Livebib app or the race's own tracking.

## Create a broadcast

1. Tap “Create a broadcast”, or open a race's page and create it from there.
2. Log in if you are asked to. The first time, confirm that you are 16 or older and accept the terms.
3. Write what you are doing and choose the activity.
4. Choose “Race” and pick your race and distance, or “Route” or “Workout”.
5. Choose who can see it, and tap “Create broadcast”.

## Route, Race or Workout?

- “Race”: a race with a start time. Pick it from the list, and the course, the checkpoints and the start time come with it.
- “Route”: an outing of your own. Leave the date empty and it goes live when you start.
- “Workout”: a training session, like intervals or a long run.

## Public or unlisted?

- “Public — listed on Livebib”: on the board and the race's page.
- “Unlisted — only people you send the link”: only those with the link can watch.

> A broadcast shows your live position. Watching and cheering are open to everyone; broadcasting is for 16 and older.

## How does it go live?

- With the Livebib app: start the broadcast in the app on your phone. It sends your position, also with the screen off.
- With the race's tracking: attach your tracking link, and the broadcast goes live by itself when the race publishes your times.

## Draw your own route

“Draw a route” at livebib.com/routes/new lets you draw a course on the map. Tap “Use for a broadcast” to create a broadcast with it.
