# The map in 3D

In 3D you see the course in the real terrain: the mountains, the valleys and the climb ahead of the runner.

## Open the 3D view

1. Tap “3D” in the switch at the top of the map.
2. Tap Follow on the right to fly behind the runner like a drone, or drag to look around.
3. Use the turn buttons to swing the view, and the compass to point north again.

## “Photo”: the real landscape

In 3D, “🛰 Photo” lays aerial photos over the terrain, so you see forest, rock and snow as they are. Tap it again to go back to the map.

## “Terrain” on the flat map

In 2D, “⛰ Terrain” shades the hills on the map. The page remembers your choice on this device.

## Why is there no 3D button?

- The 3D map for this course is not ready yet. While it is being made you see “⛰ terrain” in amber where the button will be.
- Your device may not be powerful enough for 3D. Older phones and phones in data saver mode get the flat map.
- The 3D map could not load just now. The button comes back by itself a little later.

## Fly a climb in 3D

On a climb card under “Stats”, tap “▶ 3D” to fly that climb from the foot to the top, with the gradient on the way.
